The Second Scientific Forum for Special Education Under the Slogan of ”Yours Sign is Your Voice”

Under the patronage of Prof. Louai Saad El-Din Nusrat, President of Aswan University, and H.E. Prof. Mohammed Gaber Abbas Mohammed, Dean of the Faculty, and in cooperation with the African-Arabian Institution for Research and Sustainable Development—represented by Prof. Siham Al-Wardiji, Vice President—and the Arab-African Foundation for Research and Sustainable Development represented by Prof. Sayeda Shehata Atito and Prof. Asmaa Ismail:

On Wednesday, 19 November 2025, the events of the Second Scientific Forum for Special Education, held under the slogan “Your Sign is Your Voice,” were launched. The forum reflects the pioneering role of the Faculty of Social Work in adopting modern therapeutic strategies in dealing with people with disabilities. It also fulfills the objectives of social work by developing mechanisms that enhance students’ skills in working with people with disabilities across various professional fields and social work institutions.

Prof. Louai Saad El-Din Nassrat, President of Aswan University, emphasized the importance of acquiring sign language skills and modern methods for working with individuals with special needs. His Excellency also praised the faculty’s efforts in hosting scientific forums and conferences that strengthen the role of the university and the faculty in community service.

During his speech at the forum, Prof. Mohammed Gaber Abbas, Dean of the Faculty, affirmed the faculty’s commitment to cooperating with all social institutions that contribute to enriching the knowledge and skills of students—particularly in the field of special needs. He valued the efforts of the African-Arabian Institution and its continuous support of social activities within the faculty. He also expressed his gratitude to the University President for his constant attention and ongoing support for the faculty’s activities.

Prof. Abbas extended his thanks to the vice-deans, heads of academic departments, faculty members, the assisting staff, and students from all academic years for their awareness, engagement, and strong interest in attending the forum and benefiting from its workshops and activities. These efforts contribute to preparing a generation of specialists capable of dealing with all segments of society, including individuals with special needs.

His Excellency also thanked the “Students for Egypt” family for their effective participation and distinguished role in organizing the Second Scientific Forum for Special Education.

The activities of the forum’s first day included a workshop titled “Hearing Impairment and Methods of Communication with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing,” delivered by Prof. Adel Shamandi, Consultant and Expert in Training and Special Education. The day also featured a seminar on “Obesity Among People with Disabilities,” presented by Prof. Iman Abdel Hamid Ahmed, Assistant Professor of Nutrition and Food Sciences at the Faculty of Specific Education. Additionally, the activities included a workshop on sign language, led by Dr. Akram Al-Ajmawi, Professor of Sign Language.

The scientific forum continued over two days, Wednesday and Thursday (19–20 November 2025), and its activities will conclude on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
