The department seeks to contribute to preparing a specialized graduate and practitioner in the social service who has premium experience and skills in order to keep abreast of scientific and technological developments, and has the ability to compete in the labor market; and develop the elements of the educational process in various areas of the social service, especially the modern areas such as women’s empowerment, and caring for people with special needs and the first categories of care and conducting research and scientific studies that contribute to solving the problems facing the local community.
It aims to contribute to preparing a social worker to have the ability to compete in the labor market, and have both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the various fields of social service that extend to postgraduate studies through conducting scientific and practical studies to deal with the problems that face individuals, groups, communities, and institutions efficiently; and developing the knowledge construction theoretically and practically in the light of the local and national upgrades.
-The department, in cooperation with other departments, aims to prepare scientific cadres and develop them professionally to work in the areas of professional practice of social work and to graduate the social worker who works as a general practitioner after preparing him scientifically and practically.
-Contributing to describing the faculty’s academic program, the description of the courses of the Social Work Department, and the identification of the target results and the skills required for graduates.
-Teaching the department’s special courses in light of the course description and the continuous review of this description in light of scientific and practical developments at the local, national and international levels.
-Setting the department’s research plan and defining the fields of study and research in the specializations of social work fields.
-Contributing to developing the training programs field in various areas of social service, which contributes to developing the faculty’s practical training program in coordination with other departments.
-Contributing to serving the community to implement training courses and workshops for all sectors of the local community, its base groups, and its governmental, civil, and voluntary organizations.
-Conducting and implementing field research in the social work field, which seeks to develop the theoretical structure of the method and the profession in general.
-The development of postgraduate studies by contributing to conducting research in the various fields of social work, teaching courses, supervising theses, and field training for postgraduate students.
