A Seminar Entitled (Fasting and building Religious Awareness Among Youth during Ramadan from the Perspective of Working With Groups)

Under the generous patronage of Prof. Loai Saad El-Din Nusrat, President of Aswan University, and Prof. Mohamed Gaber Abbas Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty of Social Work, and under the supervision of the Group Work Department at the Faculty of Social Work, headed by Prof. Hanaa Aref Ahmed, Professor and Head of the Group Work Department, a seminar entitled “Fasting and Building Religious Commitment in Youth During Ramadan from the Perspective of Group Work” was held on Sunday, February 22, 2026. The seminar was presented by Prof. Hanaa Aref Ahmed, Professor and Head of the Group Work Department, and was attended by field training groups under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Warda Ali Senousi, also from the Group Work Department.

 

We were also honored by the presence of Sheikh Mohamed Refaai and Sheikh Mahmoud Mostafa Hassan. The day began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Sheikh Mahmoud Mostafa Hassan, followed by a speech from the University President, then a speech from the Dean of the Faculty of Social Work, and finally a speech from Prof. Hanaa Aref Ahmed discussed the efforts of the Community Service Method and its effective role in encouraging fasting and strengthening religious commitment.

Then, Sheikh Mahmoud Mustafa Hassan and Sheikh Muhammad Al-Rifai spoke about the importance of fasting and the impact of religious commitment on the morals of those who fast. The students participated by asking a number of questions, which were answered by both sheikhs. The day concluded with a segment of religious chanting and hymns, which everyone enjoyed.
