Under the generous patronage of Prof. Louai Saad El-Din Nasrat, University President, and Prof. Mohamed Gaber Abbas Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty, the Casework Department continues its series of events. Today, Sunday, February 15, 2026, a seminar entitled “The Impact of Fasting on Eliminating Negative Behaviors” was held for fifth-grade students at the Al-Azhar Institute in Al-Jazira.

The seminar was presented by His Excellency Prof. Abdallah Saber Abdel Hamid (Professor of Casework and Vice- Dean of the Faculty of Social Work for Community Service and Environmental Development).

This seminar was generously hosted by the Al-Azhar Institute in Al-Jazira, represented by Ms. Hoda Mohamed (Director of the Institute) and the rest of the institute’s staff, including teachers, social workers, and psychologists.

The seminar explained that fasting is an act of worship that has a significant impact on an individual’s life. It is not merely abstaining from food and drink, but rather an opportunity to purify the soul, strengthen willpower, and improve behavior. The seminar also pointed out that fasting has a profound effect on the human psyche, helping to strengthen willpower, purify the soul, and improve behavior. Furthermore, the seminar indicated that fasting helps in eliminating negative behaviors such as anger, violence, bullying, backbiting, gossip, and lying.

The seminar also explained how to benefit from fasting through the following:
1- Planning: One should plan for fasting and consider the goals one wishes to achieve.

2- Prayer: You should pray to God to help you overcome negative behaviors.

3- Action: You should work on improving your behavior and changing negative habits.

In conclusion, the series of initiatives continues for the Casework Department, serving all segments of society.
