Reception Ceremony for New Students for the 2026/2027 Academic Year

Under the patronage of Prof. Ashraf Imam Abdel-Radi, Acting President of Aswan University, and Prof. Mohamed Gaber Abbas Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty of Social Work, the Faculty organized a welcoming ceremony for new students.
The ceremony was attended by Prof. Mohamed Sayed Abbas, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Prof.  Abdellah Saber Abdel-Hamid, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research; heads of academic departments; faculty members; assistant staff; administrative staff; and both new and returning students.

The event was organized as part of the Faculty’s commitment to helping new students adapt to university life, familiarizing them with the Faculty’s mission, academic departments, educational programs, study system, student activities, and field training opportunities, while promoting effective communication between students, the Faculty’s leadership, and academic staff.

In his address, the Dean welcomed the new students and expressed his pleasure at their joining the Faculty of Social Work family at Aswan University. He emphasized that university life represents an important stage in shaping students’ personalities, broadening their knowledge, developing their skills, and preparing them for active participation in community service.

The Dean also explained that social work is a humanitarian and societal profession based on an integration of theoretical knowledge and practical application. He highlighted the Faculty’s role in preparing graduates who possess the professional knowledge and skills required to address societal challenges and contribute to sustainable development. He further stressed the importance of regular class attendance and encouraged students to make the most of the academic, cultural, and student activities offered by the Faculty.

For his part, the Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs welcomed the new students and provided an overview of the key regulations governing the educational process, as well as students’ rights and responsibilities and the available channels of communication with the Faculty administration.

He also highlighted the student services and activities available to students, emphasizing that active participation in university life is essential to developing a well-rounded student personality.

The Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research also introduced the academic and research opportunities available at the Faculty. He emphasized the importance of developing a research-oriented mindset from the early stages of university education and encouraged students to engage in scientific research and keep pace with recent developments in the field of social work. He noted that such efforts contribute to preparing qualified professionals capable of responding effectively to changing societal needs.

The heads of the Faculty’s academic departments also delivered welcoming remarks, introducing students to their respective departments, areas of specialization, academic disciplines, and related fields of professional practice. They reaffirmed their commitment to providing students with continuous academic guidance and support throughout their university studies.
The ceremony also featured an introductory presentation on the Faculty, covering its academic departments, educational programs, study system, student activities, field training, and the various resources and services available through the Faculty and the University. New students were also provided with guidance on how to benefit from these resources and services throughout their university journey.

Videos highlighting the experiences and achievements of outstanding graduates were screened during the event, along with presentations showcasing the Faculty’s role in serving the community and the diverse fields of specialization available to its graduates.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Faculty of Social Work administration wished the new students a successful and fruitful academic year, reaffirming its commitment to providing continuous academic and professional support and creating a stimulating educational environment that enables students to achieve academic excellence and contribute effectively to community service.
