The Faculty of Social Work Participates in Carrying out An Awareness Seminar Entitled” The Family’s Role in Dealing with Challenges Face People With Special Needs and Enhance Their Life Skills ”
Under the patronage of Prof. Louai Saad El-Din Nusrat, President of Aswan University, and Prof. Ashraf Emam Abdul-Radi, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and upon the directives of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Gaber Abbas Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty of Social Work, the Community Service and Environmental Development Agency—in cooperation with the Casework Department and the Field Training Unit at the Faculty of Social Work—held a seminar today, Sunday, 23/11/2025, entitled:
“The Family’s Role in Addressing the Challenges Faced by People with Special Needs and Enhancing Their Life Skills”
at the Professional Training Center for People with Special Needs.
Participants included:
Prof. Abdel-Allah Saber Abdel-Hamid, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development.
Dr. Rania Ahmed Badawi, Assistant Lecturer in the Casework Department and Faculty Supervisor for fourth-year students’ training at the center.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Salah Fathi, Director of the Center; Dr. Tariq Sobhi, Dementia Specialist for People with Special Needs; Ms. Amal Najdi Radwan, Social Worker; as well as the fourth cohort of trainee students at the center.
The seminar addressed the importance of training in the field of special needs and the acquisition of skills necessary for working with individuals with special needs. It began with expressions of gratitude and appreciation to the families of people with special needs, followed by discussions on the challenges they face and the difficulties encountered by their families. The families actively participated throughout the seminar.
During the session, various problems, challenges, mechanisms, and methods that support families in caring for their children with special needs were presented. At the conclusion of the seminar, the center’s administration extended sincere thanks and appreciation to the Faculty of Social Work and called for organizing more seminars to support people with disabilities and their families.
After the seminar, a meeting was held with the students and supervisors, during which each student was instructed to prepare a report on both the meeting and the seminar, including the topics discussed. These reports will be reviewed during the monthly training meeting.
